Fresh start

Today was my last day at my old "9-5" job. I declare Tiffany Brubaker Photography now open for business! Though, my first assignment is to have this baby and go on maternity leave. :) I will start up sessions again around October. Stay tuned to this blog though because I will most definitely post some baby pictures here when he or she arrives.

My maternity pictures

I've been wanting to do some "fun" maternity shots for quite some time, but I also wanted to look really pregnant. I made Ryan take some of me on Saturday. See the pictures here.

The Rs part two

Last Sunday, my second session was with a familiar family. I photographed them last March, but because it was March (in Wisconsin), we didn't take any outside pictures. We scheduled a follow up for a "nice day in the summer." We decided on Pettibone Park (where Ryan and I were married).

Last time, I felt like I didn't get too many pictures of Keya. I think this time I went a little overboard with the Keya pictures. That almost one year, not quite walking age is just wonderful to photograph. She was so happy and smiley; it made my day.

The Gs

Last Sunday I had two family sessions; my last ones scheduled until the baby is born. I'm trying to keep July free from commitments, because you never know! :)

I was able to borrow another lens from my co-worker for both of the sessions. He has both lenses that I'm considering purchasing. This time I borrowed the 24-70mm 2.8L USM. I LOVED this lens. I liked it even more than the other lens that I borrowed for the wedding. I saw a huge difference in the quality and I thought it was perfect for family sessions. I think I would use it for weddings too, outside of the ceremony.

Anyways, onto the first family! I work with mom and we've been trying to take pictures for quite awhile now, but with three kids 4 and under, they're a busy family. For this session, she wanted some family photos, but mainly one year photos of her youngest. The middle child wasn't too interested in having her picture taken, but, in the end, I think my two favorite pictures are the individual shots of her. I think one of the biggest lessons I have learned thus far is that most kids are ok with me taking their picture when their parents aren't looking or asking them to smile. :) I think I'll start talking with the parents about this fact at future family sessions.

Matt & Jennifer: the wedding

Last weekend I photographed my second wedding. You may remember Matt and Jennifer from their engagement pictures. They didn't want many posed pictures, but they were nice to let me snap a few before the ceremony for my sake. :) The rest are mainly candid.

Matt and Jennifer are friends of ours, so Ryan was invited to the wedding, as well. We had a really nice time for a lot of reasons. They had the same officiant as we did, and he gave the same kind of personalized ceremony that we had. We've also
never been to a reception like theirs ever. They served an amazing 7 course meal. Jennifer loves big Italian dinners, and that is pretty much what we had. Everyone seemed happy and full afterwards.

The other exciting part to the day was that I was able to borrow the 70-200mm 2.8L IS USM lens. I had never used an L series lens before, which is the best that Canon makes. I liked it a lot, but it was really heavy and intimidating. I only used it during the ceremony because it was so bulky. I could really notice a difference with the quality of pictures from an L series though. I think they look much more "crisp." :)
