Dan and Jodi, married!

Saturday, I photographed the wedding of Dan and Jodi. It was such a beautiful day and a beautiful ceremony. I really enjoyed getting to know them and their friends better. The ceremony was at English Lutheran and the reception was at the Best Western Midway.

So, I can't tell the story of their wedding without telling about the incident that happened to me. While taking pictures at Pettibone, I, um, was hit in the ear with a frisbee golf frisbee (those hard discs). What a shock! To be honest, it totally hurt. But, we got the pictures and got out of there. A big thanks to the groomsmen for looking out for me. They were ready to fight in my honor, but turns out it was just a girl with some bad aim.
Definitely a night I will never forget. :)

Dan and Jodi are away on their honeymoon, but hopefully they can get a chance to check out these pictures before they get back. I hope you guys have a great trip. Thank you for letting me be a part of your day!

Justin and Lindsey round 2

So, Saturday, I photographed the wedding of Justin and Lindsey. They contacted me way back when starting my own photography business was something that I was still just dreaming about. Booking their wedding was a big boost for me. After meeting with them last spring, I was really happy that they contacted me. They seemed so happy together and very laid back. I wasn't nervous at all to photograph their wedding. I knew it would go smoothly, and it did.

Her sisters had a very funny and very touching toast.

Some of the details...

The groom's nephews are in the red ties. This picture was the last I took for the night (and it filled up my last memory card!).

I've been experimenting with storyboards, as well as with the colors.

I had a lot of fun spending the day with Justin and Lindsey and their friends and family. I wish them the best!

Matt & Jennifer: the wedding

Last weekend I photographed my second wedding. You may remember Matt and Jennifer from their engagement pictures. They didn't want many posed pictures, but they were nice to let me snap a few before the ceremony for my sake. :) The rest are mainly candid.

Matt and Jennifer are friends of ours, so Ryan was invited to the wedding, as well. We had a really nice time for a lot of reasons. They had the same officiant as we did, and he gave the same kind of personalized ceremony that we had. We've also
never been to a reception like theirs ever. They served an amazing 7 course meal. Jennifer loves big Italian dinners, and that is pretty much what we had. Everyone seemed happy and full afterwards.

The other exciting part to the day was that I was able to borrow the 70-200mm 2.8L IS USM lens. I had never used an L series lens before, which is the best that Canon makes. I liked it a lot, but it was really heavy and intimidating. I only used it during the ceremony because it was so bulky. I could really notice a difference with the quality of pictures from an L series though. I think they look much more "crisp." :)

They're ready!

The wait is over. I uploaded some of my favorite pictures from Becky and Justin's wedding to Flickr. I had a hard time narrowing them down. I took so many - digital is so great! Becky and Justin will be receiving many, many more.

I just want to thank them again for letting me do this. I had a great time, and I think that I really like photographing weddings. I learned a lot!

Best of luck to them both as they start this new, exciting time in their lives!

Sneak Peak

Sneak Peak
I'm really anxious to share the wedding pictures, but am still going through them all. I thought I should share just one to hold you over until I am able to finish them.

I was so happy when Becky, the bride, suggested this shot. I had really wanted to get one like this. It is sort of the new, fun wedding shot. I hope all of my wedding parties will be as agreeable!
